Finding new ways to stay challenged and inspired during the middle of wedding season is sometimes nearly impossible…
But like I’ve always said, I think it’s so important for all different artists to stay fresh and try new things. You never know what will come of it.
This year I’ve made sure to do a lot more personal shooting when I find myself getting totally drained. It’s sometimes the last thing I want to do, but once I pick up that camera…there’s something that just sparks.
Last week a few awesome ladies (who I’ll mention below) contacted me about a last minute test shoot with one of my favorite models. There was no way I could say no…no matter how insanely busy I was. Two days later we transformed my apartment into a studio and went at it. I can’t even begin to express how amazing it is to work with an amazing team. A team that trusts, a team that challenges. I could not have been happier with how the day played out.
We had the amazing Jenny Bowker on make-up and hair. This chick is insane. So so good.
Our lovely model was Kara who is signed with SMG…she is such a gem and I’m hoping she blows up soon. Those cheekbones, hello.
The shoot was all pulled together and inspired from the lovely pieces of clothing that Hanni put together. Hanni is a stylist in LA and I just adore how creative and bold she is. I thought I would challenge myself and mess around with a little video. The booyfran (Mario) told me to take enough video so that he could maaaybe put together a short “behind the scenes” type of video.
Yesterday I uploaded all the video, told him to mess around with it..then off to my bar method class I went.
Returned an hour later with a completed video. I was so pleasantly surprised and super excited about working together on our first little project. SO much fun.
Here is the video we put together for fun along with a few still frames from the shoot.

It’s far from perfect, but it was so much fun to make. Enjoy

(also for those asking, this amazing song is “Rely” by ODESZA…download their awesome album, “Summer’s Gone”. They also represent the Pacific Northwest, WOO!)
Perfection. Everything about this, down to the song, is brilliant!
this is pretty cool! you are always surprising me with how awesome you are. I really love watching behind the scene videos (plus you know I want a hair tutorial)
song?
So great, I loved it! Congrats on your first video, it was beautiful and the model…totally gorgeous! I’m inspired 🙂
Awesome! I wanna be you when I grow up. The only thing wrong with this is that you’re always behind the cameras and never in front. I would love to see a “behind the scenes” video of you working your magic. Just a thought….maybe I’ll inspire you to do it!! (Good job on the video Mario!)
