Every once in awhile I get asked to photograph something a little different…
Someone will email me with an idea and that is how it starts.
Kaori is one of my past brides so when I received an email from her, I knew it had to be something awesome. Well she had a little…or BIG surprise up her sleeve for Miah’s 30th Birthday! How she managed to keep it a secret from Miah for MONTHS, is beyond me! She was so smart and careful, she even created a special email account just for the planning. I was so excited to be apart of this, simply because Kaori put so much love into every detail of the day. She themed the entire day off one her favorite children’s books, “If You Give a Pig a Party“. Miah’s day started with a surprise breakfast in bed and then a fun little photo session with me…and you can see how the rest of the day went for yourself…
Kaori hand-made these adorable cards that were little clues about the next surprise of the day…
Time for the next surprise…
The next little surprise was meeting up with his parents! I’m sure Miah was a little confused and not sure what was about to happen next…
Okay, so here is the spot where the BIG SURPRISE was about to go down. What you don’t see is that behind those trees were about 20 of their closest friends hiding with balloons. We had to “pretend” to take family photos until the big reveal. I think at this point Miah was VERY confused as to why were staying in this one spot for so long! I had such a hard time stalling, I mean come on…there are only so many different things you can do with 4 people. So we patiently waited and I continued to snap away…
While I was taking family photos, I had my partner in crime Ryan Flynn hanging out with all their friends before the big surprise!
Haha, yup there we are. Stalling…
Ok finally…HERE IS THE BIG SURPRISE!
He has no idea…
I make all my 2nd shooters carry around balloons like this. Ryan was having a little too much fun… : )
After the big surprise, the huge group walked on over to Earl’s in Bellevue to enjoy a wonderful dinner and great company.
This day was so much fun! It was nice to photograph something a little different. I can’t thank Ryan enough for coming out to capture the surprise! Kaori & Miah, I just love you two. It has been so wonderful to watch your marriage grow in love throughout the years. I can’t wait to photograph the next little chapter in your lives. : )
