As I sit here sipping my tea with music softly playing the background…I can’t help the angry tears that form just thinking of just how spoiled and completely blessed we all are. I can’t help but feel guilty that I can sit here in peace while so many people in Japan are in complete devastation. We have all been reading the news, and watching the horrific videos that spread like wildfire across the internet….yet what have we done to help?! We ALL have the opportunity to help, no matter your financial situation or even if you don’t feel like your small donation will help…THE TRUTH IS THAT IT WILL. Every single dollar helps. I am so happy to be a part of a blogging community who is passionate about helping and loving others. Please join me in helping Japan, even if you can only give $5…it will count, I promise you.
Lydia of Ever Ours and Utterly Engaged have teamed up to create For Japan With Love, which is an online fundraiser for Japan. This site is linked to ShelterBox, which provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters. ShelterBox is already helping the Japanese recover from this staggering tragedy, giving out their large, green ShelterBoxes. Each is tailored to a particular disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.
This Friday has also been declared a Bloggers Day of Silence for Japan.
I am participating, therefore, this Friday there will be no blog posts from this blog as well as many others. For a daily updated list of bloggers who are participating, visit Lydia’s post here and Utterly Engaged’s post here.
Please visit For Japan With Love and make a donation.
And, if you are a blogger yourself, sign up for the Bloggers Day of Silence for Japan.
Thank you.
